Science Teachers Rock!

We’re here to celebrate all teachers this coming week on Teacher Appreciation Day, but especially science teachers, and especially two of our hometown STEM teachers. Read below to see how Danya Espadas and Russ Mauger helped the Gene Editing Institute and its partners reach an incredible milestone – the hands-on debut of CRISPR in a Box with high school students in our own community.

Bringing Gene Editing into High School

St. Georges Technical High School is the first to use ChristianaCare’s CRISPR in a Box – Technical.ly Delaware

Special thanks are also due to colleagues at the Delaware Department of Education for supporting this launch. We are learning so much and know there is a shortage of high school SCIENCE teachers. Please keep that in mind as you shape the interests and career pathways of the young people in your life! If you are a teacher interested in learning more about incorporating gene editing into your classroom, please reach out to Siobhan Hawthorne.

The educational kit is available nationwide through Rockland Immunochemicals.
