Kimberly D. Williams, MPH

Senior Research Associate

Ms. Williams is a Senior Research Associate at the Value Institute at Christiana Care Health System. Prior to joining the team in April 2013, her professional background was rooted in clinical research. Following the completion of undergraduate education, Ms. Williams worked in the Mood Disorders Program within the Department of Psychiatry at the University Hospitals of Cleveland. After moving to Philadelphia, she began working in addictions research in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania. From there, Ms. Williams transitioned into pharmaceutical clinical research consulting, which included contracts with AstraZeneca, sanofi-aventis, and Actelion pharmaceuticals. During this time, she acquired experience in Phase I, II, and III clinical trials across multiple therapeutic areas including oncologic, cardiovascular, and respiratory diseases. In 2012, Ms. Williams received her Master’s in Public Health from Drexel University and was inducted into the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health.

Her graduate education refocused her interests toward health services and policy research, which led her to the Value Institute. Ms. Williams’ current work combines her background in psychology, psychiatric clinical trials and public health focusing on the behavioral health needs of patients in the health care system. Her research centers on developing the Value Institute’s portfolio of behavioral health services research specifically involving ways to better integrate behavioral health into primary and specialty care throughout the health care system, leading to fewer readmissions, reduced costs, and improved quality. Given the bidirectional relationship between mental illness and physical health outcomes, she aims to develop projects that address the needs of some of the most at risk patient populations and improve the overall quality and scope of care provided.
