Michelle Axe, MS, CHES
Ms. Axe is a multi-faceted leader with a successful record of positively embracing new challenges. She is recognized for her program management, evaluation, and analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative. As a Research Associate for Christiana Care’s Value Institute, Ms. Axe’s career is focused on population health research, quality and safety improvement, and patient centeredness approaches to healthcare.
Ms. Axe completed her BS in Hospitality Business Management with a minor in Business Administration. She gained managerial experience in the hospitality field, further developing her problem solving, organizational, leadership, and communication skills. She later went on to explore a career in community health research. As a Research Assistant, Ms. Axe completed her MS in Health Promotion and upon graduation she became a Research Associate and Lab Manager for the University of Delaware’s Department of Human Development and Family Studies. While at UD, Ms. Axe constructed and applied community buy-in and recruitment strategies, provided long-term program planning, and implemented process, impact, and outcome evaluations for multiple grants.
In addition to research, Ms. Axe has a passion for education. As an Adjunct Professor at the University of Delaware, Ms. Axe has been given the opportunity to be on the forefront of where both healthcare and hospitality are going. Her two worlds of hospitality and health have merged, and as the co-creator of the University of Delaware’s Healthcare Service Management Practicum, Ms. Axe is maintaining partnerships and coordinating one of the country’s first patient experience student practicum within a hospital setting at Christiana Care.
